BUDGET STYLE GUIDE
Build a complete outfit under $75
The easiest way to stay under a total outfit budget is to divide the money before you start browsing. That prevents a great pair of shoes or one statement piece from quietly consuming the whole budget.
Start with a working split
| Piece | Working limit |
|---|---|
| Top | $20 |
| Bottom | $30 |
| Shoes | $20 |
| Accessory reserve | $5 |
This is not a rule. It is a starting structure. If you find $25 shoes you really like, reduce another category by $5 before checkout.
Choose the anchor piece first
Start with the item that is hardest for you to replace. For many shoppers that is shoes, bottoms or a dress. Once the anchor piece is chosen, treat the remaining amount as the real budget for everything else.
Use cost per wear as a tie-breaker
If two items fit the budget, prefer the one that works with more clothing you already own. A $28 pair of neutral trousers worn repeatedly may be better value than a $22 novelty piece you can only style once.
ShopMyBudget rule: an outfit is only within budget when the combined item total plus any reserve you choose stays within the total you entered.
